By air

"Lithuanian Airlines" offers daily connections with Moscow and Kyiv. In the summer travellers enjoy three flights to Saint Petersburg per week. Riga – the capital of Latvia - can be reached in less than an hour. Flight service is provided by airBaltic.

A flight connection operates between Moscow and Palanga in the summer months. The service offers one flight per week.

Kaunas airport equally welcomes regular flights from Western Europe and charter flights from resort areas.

By train

Saint Petersburg – Vilnius train no 391 P leaves on odd days from the Vitebsk Rail Terminal.

A daily direct train connection operates between Vilnius and Moscow. The train no 005T leaves from the Belarus Rail Terminal and the travel time is 14 hrs. Moscow-Kaliningrad train connection also runs through Vilnius. However, the travel time is one hour longer on this train.

By coach

Daily direct coach service runs between Moscow and Vilnius through Kaunas and Zarasai. There is also a Vilnius coach service with a change in Riga. The coach goes through Rzhev, Velikie Luki, Latvia and Lithuania.

There is a coach connection with Saint Petersburg running through Latvia which is quite problematic for those who need a Latvian transit visa. The coach runs through Pskov and Riga.

The Saint Petersburg –Tallinn – Riga – Vilnius connection with a change in Tallinn requires both Latvian and Estonian visas in the case travellers have Russian citizenship

Those travelling from Kaliningrad can enjoy the daily Vilnius coach service

By car

The Green card is valid on the territory of Lithuania. Alternatively it can be purchased on the border. No extra insurances are required for visitors from the Baltic states.

Speed: the speed limit in residential areas is 50 km/h, in other areas it may reach 90 km/h. The speed limit on highways is 130 km/h (110km/h from 1st November to 1st May).

Dipped headlights are compulsory from 1st September to 1st April.
